How loud is your food noise?
“Food noise” describes the intrusive, repetitive thoughts about food that can occupy mental bandwidth even when you’re not hungry. This 8-question quiz helps you gauge how much it’s affecting your daily life — useful as a baseline, or to track change over time on GLP-1 therapy.
Self-reflection tool only — not a clinical assessment. Takes about 2 minutes.
1.How often do thoughts about food come to you when you're not hungry or planning a meal?
2.When you try to focus on something else, how often do food thoughts pull your attention back?
3.How much do food thoughts interfere with your ability to concentrate on work or other tasks?
4.Do you find yourself thinking about your next meal while you're still eating the current one?
5.Do you think about food or eating even when you're physically full or recently ate?
6.How often do you eat in response to food thoughts rather than actual physical hunger?
7.Do food-related thoughts make it harder to be present in conversations, meetings, or social events?
8.How much control do you feel you have over food-related thoughts when they arise?
What is food noise, exactly?
The term “food noise” isn’t a formal clinical diagnosis — it’s a widely-used description for the mental chatter around food that many people experience: thinking about what to eat next, replaying what you just ate, craving specific foods without physical hunger, or finding food thoughts intruding during unrelated activities.
People on GLP-1 medications (Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, Zepbound) frequently report a dramatic quieting of food noise as one of the most significant quality-of-life changes on therapy — often more notable to them than the weight change itself. Conversely, food noise typically increases again after stopping, sometimes before appetite fully returns.
This quiz is designed as a self-reflection tool: a way to put a rough number on something that’s otherwise hard to describe to a prescriber or support system. It is not validated as a clinical instrument and does not diagnose any condition.
